Police Blotter: Stealing Brews from the Ivy

Two men allegedly stole a 12-pack of beer from the Ivy Inn and then fled the Nassau Street bar. On June 26th just after midnight, a police officer saw Guy Castronova, 22, of Lawrence and Patrick Jeffers, 23, of Jersey City, run from the bar with the beer. Was this some kind of fraternity initiation, we wonder,  and what kind of beer did they think was worth stealing, was it just Bud Light or was it Beck’s? Or were they really so strapped for cash that they had to steal a 12-pack?

Just before 1 a.m. the same night, police pulled over a Dayton resident for making an illegal u-turn on Nassau Street. The police determined that Rishi Dixit was driving while intoxicated. Dixit was charged with DWI and the court date has been set for July 11.

The previous night, June 25, just after midnight, borough police received reports from a public safety officer at Princeton University that a man was slumped over and unconscious in his car on University Place. Officers determined that the 59-year-old township resident, Irving Newlin II of Birch Avenue had been driving while intoxicated. He was arrested and refused to take a breath test. He was charged with DWI and refusal to submit to a chemical breath test. His hearing has been set for July 11.
