Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Style with the Princeton YWCA

Breast cancer survivor Donna Scaglione

Breast cancer survivors, their supporters, oncologists, and nurses will strut their stuff on the fashion runway at the seventh annual “In the Pink” Fashion Show on Oct. 21.

The popular event, sometimes a sell out, is a night that celebrates the strength, spirit and beauty of breast cancer survivors and the compassion of their network of supporters while raising money for a good cause.

Model will show off new fall fashions from local retailers including The Gap, Idilia’s Pret a Porter, KiKi D’s, Lord & Taylor, and ZOË.

“In the Pink” is hosted by the YWCA Princeton Breast Cancer Resource Center. The proceeds from the event support the work of the resource center, which offers support services to women with breast cancer as well as community outreach programs about breast cancer and early detection.

The fashion show includes a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions of items ranging from jewelry, theater tickets and dinner certificates to dance lessons, gourmet gift baskets, hotel stays and more.

The event, which will be held at The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person or $900 for a table of 10. You can also support In the Pink as a Friend ($250), Patron ($350), or Benefactor ($550) and receive two tickets and acknowledgment in the evening’s program book. Reserve your seat by calling 609-497-2100, ext. 333 or online at the YWCA Princeton website.

Event sponsors include: UBS Financial Services, the University Medical Center at Princeton Breast Health Center, the Princeton Medical Group Hematology/Oncology, Hopewell Valley Community Bank, Horizon NJ Health, and Mercer County Woman.

If you attend: We recommend bringing some tissues. The joy and confidence of some of cancer survivors on the runway has been known to bring tears to the eyes of many an attendee.
