Princeton High Studio Band Places First at State Championships

The Princeton High School Studio Band placed first at the state championships of the New Jersey Association for Jazz Education Saturday.

Band members Frank Rein and Marc Stern received outstanding soloist awards and Alex Anderson won the senior soloist award, which includes a $1,000 college scholarship.

The band is directed by Joe Bongiovi and Scott Grimaldi.

The Princeton High School Jazz Ensemble placed fourth, their highest finish at the state competition.

The New Jersey Association for Jazz Education provides leadership, dedication and creative instruction to students involved in the jazz genre. The group organizes regional and all-state jazz ensembles, the statewide honors jazz choir, the New Jersey State Jazz Festival, and the New Jersey State Jazz Combo Festival.
