Princeton Battlefield Preservation Group Seeks Donors for Lawsuit

The Princeton Battlefield Society is gearing up for what its leaders have dubbed the second Battle of Princeton.

Members are raising money to fund a lawsuit against the Institute for Advanced Study to stop the school from building 15 faculty housing units on land adjacent to the Princeton Battlefield State Park. Members say the housing site was part of the first Battle of Princeton, a turning point in the Revolutionary War.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match donations up to $3,000 for the Battlefield Society’s Legal Defense Fund.  The fund will be used for legal fees to pay for the lawsuit the group filed earlier this year in Superior Court. The group has a month to raise the matching donations. The deadline to contribute is July 18. For more information, visit the Princeton Battlefield Society’s website.

Earlier this month the National Trust for Historic Preservation listed the Princeton Battlefield as one of the eleven most endangered historic sites in America.
