Scenes from `Admission’ Starring Fey, Rudd, Tomlin and More to be Shot in Princeton Next Month

Some scenes for the movie `Admission’ starring Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Michael Sheen, Lily Tomlin and Sonya Walger will be filmed in Princeton next month, officials have confirmed.

Rumors swirled on Facebook and some local news sites earlier this month that Tina Fay would be in town the week of June 12th to film scenes, but those rumors were false.

Filming in Princeton Borough will take place July 1 and 2. Some parking along Alexander Road and University Place will be blocked off for the shoot, Borough officials confirmed.

Production on the Focus Features’ film, directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Weitz, began May 15 in New York. Scenes have been shot in several New York locations, including Bronxville and Manhattanville College in Purchase.

The film is based on Princeton author Jean Hanff Korelitz’s 2009 novel of the same name. Korelitz is married to Pulitzer Prize winning poet Paul Muldoon, who is a professor at Princeton University.

In the movie, Fey is portraying the character Portia Nathan, an admissions officer at Princeton who visits an experimental high school in New Hampshire and is caught off guard when co-founder John Halsey, played by Paul Rudd, turns out to have attended college with her. She is reminded of the life-altering decision that she made while still a student herself. She had a son, who she gave up for adoption, and who she now realizes may be one of John’s students, the misfit Jeremiah. Portia soon finds herself bending the admissions rules in an effort to try to give Jeremiah the best life possible while trying to figure out hers.

The film is set for release in 2013.
