Friday, November 30

Opening Reception for Sauce for the Goose  – Kick off reception for the Arts Council of Princeton’s annual arts and crafts sale featuring paintings, drawings, ceramics, glass work, holiday ornaments, greeting cards, photography, jewelry, hats, and scarves. Gallery hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sale runs through  Dec.  22. Reception until 8 p.m.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Westminster Opera Theater – Performance by the Westminster Choir College group at Princeton High School, 8 p.m., tickets $25. (also Sat. at 8 p.m.)

Saturday, December 1

Winter Run with the Princeton Athletic Club – Run or walk through the Institute Woods at the Institute for Advanced Study. Begins at 10 a.m., on site fee $35.

Holiday Flea Market and Bake Sale by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Princeton First Aid and Rescue  Squad – Christmas decorations, household and kitchen items, books, art, toys, gifts, electronics, baked goods and more at the squad, located at 237 North Harrison Street, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Cookies and Milk with Santa at Morven Museum – Children under 12 can whisper holiday wishes into Santa’s ear, make holiday crafts, and mail letters to the North Pole. 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per family.

Santa and Snowy Visit the Princeton Shopping Center – The fire engine brings the duo to the courtyard for the annual visit Children receive a free gift. Parents can get a professional photo or take one of the kids with Santa. Event includes music. Runs from 12:30-3 p.m., free. Editor’s note – this event was apparently canceled for this year by the new mall management but we were not informed and neither were other publications. It was on our calendar for some time. We regret the error.

Holiday Trolley Tours with Princeton Tour Company – Learn some fun Princeton history and check out the homes and hangouts of Albert Einstein, Woodrow Wilson, Grover Cleveland, TS Eliot, Robert Oppenheimer, and more. Hourly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets $15, register at www.princetontourcompany.com.

Holiday House Tour with the Old Mill Hill Society – Self-guided house tour beginning at Artworks, highlights more than 20 restored Victorian, late Federal and Gothic Revival homes decorated for the holiday season. The 1719 Trent House will also be open for tours. Starts at 19 Everett Alley, tours run noon – 5 p.m. Tickets $20 on site, tours noon. to 5 p.m.

Bravo Wind Trio performs at the Prineton Public Library – Interactive program for families presented by the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, 2 p.m., free.

A German Christmas with the Westminster Concert Bell Choir – Celebrate a German Christmas featuring classics, carols, and folk music at Westminster Choir College’s Bristol Chape, 4 pm., tickets $25. (also Sun. at 4 p.m.)

A Child’s Christmas in Wales with the The Princeton Singers – Dylan Thomas’s classic Christmas story of misrule and mayhem narrated by Congressman Rush Holt. Music includes traditional holiday favorites and carols. At Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street, 6 p.m., tickets $25.

Sarah Donner’s Indie Music Night Holiday Show – Join Sarah Donner, Kagero, and Artstar for an evening of folk, alternative pop, and gypsy rock and holiday music to start the season off right. At the Arts Council of Princeton, 7 p.m., admission $5.

Advent Concert at the Princeton University Chapel –  ‘Saint Nicolas’ by Benjamin Britten featuring M.Roger Holland II and the Chapel Choir and Orchestra, 2:30 p.m., free.

Festival of Trees at Morven Museum – Open house with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and more. Holiday trees decorated by area business and organizations. 55 Stockton St., 5-7:30 p.m., tickets $125 and up, www.morven.org.

A Christmas Carol at McCarter Theatre – The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without a performance of the holiday classic by Charles Dickens, 5:30 p.m., tickets $20 and up.

Advent Night at Princeton United Methodist Church – A celebration of music, cultures and crafts from around the world, 4-6 p.m., free. Church located at the intersection of Nassau St and Vandeventer Ave.

West Windsor Township Tree Lighting Ceremony – Annual tree lighting ceremony includes music, fireworks, singing, and refreshments. At the Ron Rogers Arboretum at the corner of Route 571 and Clarksville Road. Park at High School South. 7 p.m., free.

Italian Feast at Trinity Church –  Proceeds support the choir’s trip to England in 2013, 5-7 p.m., $10 per person, $25 per family.

AIDS Benefit Concert Presented by the Princeton University Players – Benefit for Broadway Cares and Equity Fights AIDS initiative, 8 p.m., free-will donation.
