6123_327732527327639_1472457236_nThe police and rescue squad search for Sarah Majoras will continue today as residents meet to coordinate their own search party this morning at 10 a.m. at the CVS in Lambertville.

Posters of Majoras have been distributed in New Hope, Lambertville  and beyond. The New Hope Staples is providing them free of charge to anyone who stops in to pick some up. Information and search efforts by citizens are being coordinated on a Facebook page called Find Sarah Majoras, which attracted more than 4,200 followers in 12 hours.

Yesterday, holes were cut in the ice of the D&R Canal north of Coryell Street, and scuba divers went in but found nothing and quit at dusk. A State Police helicopter also made several passes along the canal. Rescuers also searched the area around the toll-free bridge that connects New Hope and Lambertville.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the disappearance and treating it as a missing persons case, and friends and family members are being interviewed to gather more information. The case has received national attention, with people from other states distributing pictures of Majoras on the internet in the hope of finding some clue to her whereabouts.

In New Hope and Lambertville, two close-knit towns where Majoras is well known and beloved, the mood was somber yesterday. Outside John & Peter’s, people embraced and sobbed as word of her disappearance spread. On the Facebook search page, people posted heartbreaking notes listing all the places they searched yesterday, including Lewis Island, vacant trains, dumpsters, run-off pipes and a cemetery.

Majoras was reported missing by her boyfriend around 2 p.m. Saturday. She was last seen leaving John & Peter’s on Main Street just before 2 a.m. Saturday. She is a bartender at the popular New Hope club, but was off that night and was hanging out there with friends, sources said.

From video footage it appears that Majoras walked on the bridge from New Hope to Lambertville. Area merchants have been asked to check their video footage to see if she appears in any other video.

Majoras as 5’4″, weighs 140 pounds, has blue eyes and blonde hair.  She was last seen wearing blue jeans, brown leather boots, white cap and a camouflage jacket.

Anyone with information about the case should contact the Lambertville Police Department at 609-397-3132.
