Energy efficient appliances, eco-friendly product distributors, and solar panel installers are just some of the businesses that will be featured at the sixth annual Living Local Expo at Lawrence High on March 23.

The event, founded by the non-profit group Sustainable Lawrence, has expanded and now is supported by several partners, including sustainability groups from Lawrence, Ewing, Hopewell and the Mercer County Office of Sustainable Development.

This year the event will feature sustainable local businesses, electric cars, local farms, cooking demonstrations, hands-on workshops and the “Ask your Neighbor” table where  visitors can hear how local homeowners have completed successful energy-efficient projects.

The Expo will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 in the Commons at Lawrence High School, which is located at 2525 Princeton Pike in Lawrence. The event is free and open to the public. In addition to the more than 40 vendors at the Expo, speakers will discuss a variety of sustainability issues ranging from local school gardening and science projects, to the future of transportation, and recycling in Mercer County.

Several car dealers will bring their electric models for a mini show in the parking lot. Visitors will be able to sample local produce and food from local farms and chefs, and buy lunch at a mini farmer’s market. Area residents will discuss their experiences remodeling and performing energy efficiency projects and talk about incentives  from the New Jersey Clean Energy program and other sources.

The Trenton Bike Exchange will be collecting used bikes, and the non-profit Resource will be collecting gently used medical equipment.
