Princeton Police Blotter: Assault on Leigh Ave., Fight on Witherspoon, Heroin on Hinds Plaza

princeton policeA woman reported Aug. 20 that sometime during the day while she was at work on the 400 block of North Harrison Street, the rear window of her vehicle was smashed by an unknown person. The cost to replace the window was unknown at the time of the report.

Three juvenile females reported to police that they were assaulted by an individual while on Leigh Avenue just after 11 p.m. Aug. 17,  and that their phones and other items were then stolen from them. The victims reported that they were assaulted after striking up a conversation with a group on Leigh Avenue. During the conversation, one of the persons punched the victims while others in the group took items from their purses. A phone, an iPod, a camera and cash were stolen. The stolen are valued at just over $1,000 total. Police are investigating the incident.

A man called police just before 11 p.m. on Aug. 17 to report that sometime between 11:30pm on Aug. 16  and 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 17, an unknown person slashed all four tires on his vehicle while it was parked on Maclean St. The cost to replace the tires was unknown at the time of the report.

A man reported to police that he was involved in a fight with another person and was struck in the face with a beer bottle just before 10:30 p.m. on Aug 15. The victim suffered a cut to his face over his left eye, and was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for treatment. The identity of the other person was unknown to the victim, and a check of the area by police was unsuccessful in locating the person.

Police located a Princeton resident on Hinds Plaza on the evening of Aug. 18 and arrested him because he had outstanding warrants totaling $5,000. When they arrested him, they discovered he was in possession of a hypodermic syringe and a substance that looked like heroin. Ryan Alessandrini, 27, was charged with possession of a controlled and dangerous substance, and possession with intent to distribute. Bail was set on the drug charge at $25,000  and Alessdanrini was transported to the Mercer County Corrections Center in Hopewell when he was unable to post bail.
