Eric Mintel Quartet at the Arts Council of Princeton – Concert features Eric Mintel on piano, Nelson Hill on alto sax, Jack Hegyi on bass, and Dave Mohn on drums. The quartet has performed in the White House, Kennedy Center, and the United Nations. 8 p.m. Admission $10.

Proof, McCarter Theatre –  Drama by David Auburn. Tickets $20 and up. Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m., Sunday at 2 7:30 p.m.

Household Chemical and Electronics Waste Disposal Day – Mercer County residents can dispose of items at the John T. Dempster Fire School, 350 Lawrence Station Road, Lawrence. Allowable items include aerosol cans, household, car, and rechargeable batteries, photographic chemicals, used motor oil and oil filters, lighter fluid, propane gas tanks, pesticides, pool chemicals, paint thinner, stains and varnishes, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, gasoline, and insect repellents. Rain or shine. Must show proof of Mercer County residency. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Princeton Children’s Book Festival – More than 80 authors and illustrators of children’s literature gather to meet their fans on Hinds Plaza and the Princeton Public Library Community Room, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., free.

Yoga in the Garden – Free yoga at Morven, led by Gemma Farrell, back by popular demand! Open to the public, and appropriate for all ages and skill levels. All you need to bring is your yoga mat, a towel, and a bottle of water. In garden at 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, noon to 1:30 p.m.

Casting Call for Jack and the Beanstalk – Following successes such as ‘Shockheaded Peter’, ‘Stone Soup’, and ‘On Air’, the variety theater team will be mounting a large-scale production of Jack and the Beanstalk in February. All ages interested in joining in on stage or helping out backstage should attend at least one of the three open workshops. Other workshops to be held on Oct. 1 and Oct. 15. Fall Harvest Festival at Terhune Orchards – Food, live music, and activities for kids, including a corn maze, a hay bale maze, and pumpkin painting. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission to festival area $5. Borderline performs noon to 4 p.m. 330 Cold Soil Road, Lawrence.

Acoustic Road – The popular classic acoustic rock duo featuring guitarist Matt Robinson and keyboardist Jeff Friedman, who both also sing, returns for a performance on Hinds Plaza, 4 p.m., free.
