Common Application Problems Prompt Princeton University to Grant Grace Period for Early Action Applicants

Nassau HallPrinceton University announced today that the school will be flexible when it comes to accepting early decision applications through the Common Application system.

The redesign of the Common Application has been a big headache for students, teachers and counselors. Many people have experienced technical difficulties when they try to submit their college applications through the Common Application system.

“Please be assured that we will be flexible if you are unable to meet our Nov. 1 deadline for single choice early action because of technical issues,” reads a statement from Princeton University. “You will not need to request an extension unless you apply after Nov. 8.”

Colleges and universities are dealing with the issue in various ways, so students need to check with individual schools to determine what to do.

Some schools have extended their early application deadline to Nov. 4. Many others have extended their deadline to Nov. 8 or Nov. 11. Several colleges have extended the deadline until Dec. 1. Some colleges are offering students the opportunity to make use of their own online applications. Other colleges say that they are dealing with inquiries on a case by case basis and will consider individual requests for more time.
