convertiblesuspectOn Monday, Feb. 10 at about 3:55 p.m., a 9-year-old girl on her way home from her school bus stop was approached by a male in a red convertible.

The man said “Hop in, I’ll take you home,” according to the girl. The girl later identified the vehicle as a red convertible that was clean with no snow or ice on it. The picture with this story was captured at 3:38 p.m. on a home security system located around the corner from the incident.

The driver was described as a white male, in his 30s with a “southern accent”, short brownish hair covering his ears, freckles, and dark circles under his eyes. He was wearing a red short sleeve t-shirt and no jacket, the girl reported. The driver was wearing brown gloves when he was next to the girl.

He did not attempt to pull closer to the girl and never attempts to get out of the car. The girl said once the vehicle passed her, she began to run and did not stop until she got to her house about 200 yards away.

This incident happened on Eglantine Avenue near the intersection with East Franklin Avenue. A check of the area failed to produce any vehicle. The incident was reported to the police until 5:39 p.m.
