Lawrence Public Schools Employee Brought Gun and Knife to Philadelphia Airport

A woman who works for the Lawrence Township Public Schools was arrested today for allegedly bringing a gun and knife to the Philadelphia International Airport.

Philadelphia Police said Kathryn Spiropoulos, 53, of Ewing, was arrested after  weapons were found in her purse around 6:50 a.m. today as she was going through a security checkpoint.

Spiropoulos allegedly was carrying a Glock Model 30 .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun loaded with a magazine containing 10 live rounds and a credit card-shaped object that folded into a knife.

Police said Spiropoulos does not have a license to carry. She will be charged with a violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, according to investigators.

According to the Lawrence Township Public Schools website, Spiropoulos is the transportation supervisor for the school district. The district was preparing a statement at press time. This story will be updated once the district’s statement is issued.
