One Killed in Hopewell Crash

hopewell policeOn July 16, police and emergency responders in Hopewell were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Route 31, south of Route 612.

A Honda Accord and a Volvo S60 collided. The Honda Accord was driven by Harry Foster, 76, of  Ewing,  Foster was extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by the Pennington First Aid Squad, with paramedics from Capital Health System. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Volvo was driven by Elaine Rudolph, 63, of Egg Harbor. Rudolph was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said their investigation revealed that Foster was traveling southbound along Route 31  Rudolph was traveling northbound when Foster, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line and struck the Volvo.

Route 31 was closed for approximately 2 hours between Route 612 and Route 654. Traffic was detoured. The crash is being investigated by Officer James Hoffman, Detective Mike Sherman, and
Detective Don Santora of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
