Republican State Assemblywoman Donna Simon has conceded to Democrat Andrew Zwicker and will not challenge the results of the November election.

Simon called Zwicker this morning.

Zwicker defeated Simon by 76 votes after provisional ballots in four counties were tallied.

The 16th District, which was redrawn in 2011, includes parts of Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer and Middlesex counties. The district has been a Republican stronghold. This campaign season, the Democrats worked to tie the Republican representatives to Gov. Chris Christie.

Zwicker, a South Brunswick resident, is a physicist and educator at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. He will serve the 16th District with Republican Jack Ciattarelli, the top vote getter in the race for the two 16th District seats in the Assembly.
