Patty Fagin, head of Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, has been awarded a fellowship by the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership to attend a 12-day program for independent school leaders at the Teachers College at Columbia University.

The award, established in 1991, provides 20 independent and international school leaders each year with an opportunity for professional enrichment, renewal and reflection.

Visiting heads of school from around the world will gather together at the Columbia University campus from late January until early February for intensive study to examine educational issues and policies facing independent school educators. Participants will focus on philosophy, research, governance and current topics in education. The 2016 group includes leaders from across the United States in addition to participants from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Germany, Nicaragua, Cote d’Ivoire, Lithuania, Fiji, Italy and Hong Kong.

The Klingenstein Center at Columbia University is dedicated to improving the quality of independent school education by developing and strengthening leadership among teachers and administrators who work in independent and international schools in the United States and throughout the world.

Stuart Country Day School is the only all-girls school in Princeton. Founded in 1963, Stuart enrolls 462 students, including girls in Jr. K-12, and boys and girls in the co-ed early childhood program. Stuart is part of an international community of 150 Sacred Heart schools and is an independent Catholic school that embraces students of all faiths and backgrounds.
