Sunday Morning Princeton Blizzard Update, Jan. 24

US1 Harrison SunGreetings on this day of clear skies (and no more snow). Plow crews across the region worked through the night to clear as many roads as possible. Main highways have been cleared and no major accidents have been reported in the Mercer County area on major roads.

The main roads in Princeton were cleared by about 6 a.m. There are still lots of icy patches on the roads, so use caution if you must drive. Many police departments are urging residents to stay off the roads today unless travel is absolutely necessary. This will make it easier for crews to continue to clear and treat the roads. Many secondary roads throughout the region still need to be cleared today. Public works crews ask that you please be patient.

As of 12:30 p.m., are police have reported numerous accidents. Roads are still slippery. Trucks and cars are still getting stuck in the snow.

Watch out for snow and ice sliding off rooftops as you walk around downtown areas.

Roads will refreeze tonight and it will be dangerous to drive.

Meadow Road SunPrinceton received about two feet of snow. We are confirming totals in the region and will update this post later in the day. Check out great blizzard photos from dozens of Planet Princeton readers here.

Cold Soil Road has been reopened. Quaker Road is still closed.

New Jersey State Police officers have handled more than 230 crashes and more than 1,050 calls for aid on state roads since the blizzard began.
