The Hopewell Valley Golf and Country Club reopened this week and is welcoming limited public play for the first time in the club’s almost 90-year history.

Located on the banks of the Stony Brook in Hopewell Township just off Pennington Hopewell Road, the gold course was developed in 1927 as a private and secluded golf sanctuary.

The Thomas Winton-designed championship course is under new ownership. Mike Attara, president of Spirit Golf Management, LLC, is the new PGA general manager and CEO. The club was purchased by Attara, Rich Rutzler of Future Signs in Hamilton, NJ, and a small group of investors.

“The response to the new club has been outstanding from golfers and families in the region,” Attara said. “We are getting calls from members and prospective players who are chomping at the bit to get on the course and are excited to learn about all the improvements planned for the course, pool, and clubhouse dining and event facilities.”

Packages and pricing for several types of membership are available, including full, senior, young professional, and student memberships, as well as sports memberships for tennis, paddle tennis, and pool in various combinations.

A trial membership to play the course and use the facilities is available for $700, in addition to limited public play opportunities.

Hopewell Valley offers league play for men, women and juniors, as well as summer camps and clinics for children. For the first time, these programs are open to everyone in the community.

P.J. Ulanich, a PGA professional, Hopewell Valley golf pro, and a member of the professional staff for 16 years said a solid plan for the club and nice upgrades to the facility are in the works. “The future looks extremely bright,” he said.
