Mercer County Sheriff’s Officers Find Missing Lawrence Senior Citizen

An elderly resident who lives in a neighborhood just off Business Route One and East Darrah Lane in Lawrence was reported missing by her family just after 2 a.m. on Monday. The woman, 78, suffers from disorientation and confusion, and her family feared she was lost in the area.

Mercer County Sheriff officers dispatched the department’s Project Lifesaver team to search the area. The woman had been wearing a Project Lifesaver tracking bracelet issued by the department.

A  strong electronic signal was picked up on a tracking device, which assisted the officers in locating the woman within 10 minutes of their arrival. She was located less than half mile from her
residence, resting on a roadway. The woman was taken to Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, where she was evaluated and reunited with her family.

The Project Lifesaver program, a national program, identifies and quickly locates people who might wander or disappear from their property. Families interested in enrolling in the program
should contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office at 989-6109.
