Cancer Benefit Concert at Princeton Arts Council Tonight to Help Local Chef and Musician

If you want to hear some great music and help a local chef in need, head over to the Arts Council of Princeton tonight for a fundraiser that has been dubbed “Larrypalooza.”

Larrypalooza will raise money to cover some of the medical bills for local chef and musician Larry Frazer, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Adenocarcinoma, in March.

Frazer, who teaches culinary arts at the Eden Institute, started the first culinary program for autistic children in the United States and previously he worked in dining services at Princeton University.

His wife, Sharyn Murray works, at Princeton Community Television. We like to refer to Murray as “the Dinky bride”, because in 2005, Murray and Frazer were married at the Dinky station. The couple met on a Dinky train ride returning from New York, so they thought it was only fitting to get married at the station and take a celebratory Dinky ride with about 60 wedding guests. They took the train to Princeton Junction, toasted their love and their beloved Dinky with some champagne, and then headed back to the borough for a train-themed reception at one of the university eating clubs.

Things were going smoothly for the couple until Frazer’s stage 4 diagnosis this spring. Frazer’s health insurance only covers a portion of the medical bills, which have already exceeded $500,000. Frazer and Murray have enough to worry about without fretting about these bills, so the Larrypalooza fundraiser was organized.

The band Haute Dawg will perform tonight, featuring Sarah Donner, Frazer on mandolin, and surprise special guests.

Refreshments will be served starting at 7 p.m, and music begins at 8 p.m.

The suggested donation for the event is $10 per person, but we hope people will give more.

The Paul Robeson Center at the Arts Council of Princeton is located at 102 Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton. For more information call (609) 924-8777.
