Just in Time for Election Day: The Capitol Steps Return to Princeton for Senior Center Fundraiser

America’s funniest political satire troupe, the Capitol Steps, is returning to Princeton this Saturday, and Lord knows they have enough fresh material to work with these days.

Our own governor has provided plenty of fodder for the troupe’s routines that poke fun at politicians, with no one being off limits, including Chris Christie.

“He’s been fabulous,” founding Capitol Steps member Elaina Newport said of Christie in a recent interview. “He’s so different than the Obamas. Michelle Obama is having kids eat carrots and then there is Christie.”

“He’s a great target, but I think his shelf life is short now since he will not run for president,” she said. “He’s the guy the Republicans will refer to as the one who got away.”

The Capitol Steps always have plenty of fresh material to work with. Their return visit to Princeton this year will be full of new acts. The group will deliver more than 20 songs in a fast-paced show at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Princeton Day School.

The evening will  benefit the Princeton Senior Resource Center’s Human Capital Campaign. The resource center offers affordable services, programs and opportunities that support, older individuals, their families and caregivers.

Last year the event was standing room only, so we advise getting your ticket now if you want to go .

Tickets for the performance, starting at $150, ($100 tax deductible) are available online at the senior resource center website, by calling (609) 924-7108, or in person at the Princeton Senior Resource Center office, which is located in the Suzanne Patterson Building behind Princeton Borough Hall.
