Stars and Stripes: Fabric of the American Spirit, Morven Museum –  Exhibit of 100 flags from the Pierce Collection to American Parade Flags, a tribute to America’s national symbol. The Flag Act specified only that the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternating red and white, and that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field. A variety of configurations and patterns will be on display through January 8. Free admission for Veterans’s Day as a tribute to American veterans, open until 3 p.m. today. Elkapalooza, Princeton Elks – Music festival to benefit the Montgomery Special Education PTA. Bands performing include our favorite local group Pi Fight, the Freds, Four Fingers of Funk, Dusty Rivers, SquawBrook. Barbecue and activities for all ages. Bring lawn chair and blanket. Benefit Concert for the Valley Road School Adaptive Reuse Committee – Edna’s Kin with Andrew Koontz presents Irish music. Riverside Bluegrass Band with Bill Flemer on guitar, bass, and vocals; Emma Morrow on fiddle, guitar, and vocals; Jake Morrow on guitar, mandolin, bass, and vocals; Steve Hendershott on mandolin, fiddle and vocals; and David Olsen on five-string banjo. The Princeton Nassoons present “YaleJam” – Watch the Nassoons in an a cappella face-off against the Yale Whiffenpoofs, at 8 p.m., in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall. Guest performers will include BodyHype, a student dance company, and Quipfire!, Princeton’s student improvisational comedy troupe. Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for adults.

Coalition for Peace Action’s 32nd Annual Conference and Interfaith Service for Peace  – Swami Tattvavidananda Saraswati, a Hindu spiritual leader, will preach on nonviolence at the interfaith service  at 11:00 a.m. at the Princeton University Chapel. No charge or reservations required for the service. Free will offering to support CFPA will be received. The Conference for Peace runs from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at McCormick 101. The talk is entitled “Smart Security: Reducing Military Spending to Fund Urgent Needs at Home.” Advanced reservations are closed, but you can register at the door. Suggested donation for non-members is $40, for members $25, and for limited income $15, students free.
