“Seen and Unseen” Photo Exhibit – View over  40 images that fill the Artways Gallery at the Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro, taken by local photographers Deborah Land and Jeff Currie. Reception from 5-8 p.m. Free. www.princetonalliance.org.

Saturday, January 7

The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch Walk – A guided walk along the D&R Canal. The walk will be between Alexander Road in Princeton Township and Carnegie Road in Lawrence, with the option of a shorter walk. The 5.5-mile walk will include Turning Basin Park, Port Mercer and its historic bridge tender’s house, a dramatic footbridge over Route 1, Bakers Basin and the bridge tender’s house at Carnegie Road. Canal Watch board member Bob Barth will conduct the walk and provide commentary. Meet 10 a.m. at Princeton Turning Basin Park, located between the bridges over Stony Brook and the canal on Alexander Road in Princeton Township. A shorter walk will also be offered. Science on Saturday at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory –  Presentation “Out of Africa: Genetics and Human Migrations” by Gyan Bhanot of the Department of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Physics at Rutgers University. Festival of Trees at Morven Museum & Garden – Final weekend of the annual Festival of Trees. National Religious Campaign Against Torture Talk and Reception – International human rights lawyer Scott Horton will kick off the group’s New Jersey education campaign about solitary confinement with the talk “Popular Support for U.S. Torture: Why It is Rising in the Most Recent Polls and What Can Be Done About It?” Includes screening of a 15-minute film about NRCAT’s work on solitary confinement.
