Campbell Soup Co. Donates 9.1 Tons of Food to Crisis Ministry

Margaret Cowell and Mark Smith of the Crisis Ministry and Reggie Williams of the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank pose for a photo with some of the canned food donated by the Campbell Soup Company.

The Campbell Soup Company in Camden is doing its part to help the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton recover from a fire. The company has donated 530 cases of soups, stews and salsas to the Crisis Ministry. Donations from the soup company, which weighed in at a whopping 9.1 tons, were delivered last week.

The donations are being stored at Mercer Street Friends Food Bank in Ewing. Mercer Street Friends donated storage space to the Crisis Ministry after the Crisis Ministry’s main food pantry in Trenton was destroyed by a fire in December.

Crisis Ministry has two other food pantries, a Princeton pantry at Nassau Presbyterian Church and a satellite Trenton pantry at Bethany Church, and homelessness prevention services are now running at pre-fire capacity. A temporary pantry has also been opened down the street from the Hanover location where the fire occurred.
