Princeton Township Police Blotter: Pedestrian Struck by Car, Gas Station Attendant Assaulted

A pedestrian was struck at the intersection intersection of North Harrison Street and ValleyRoad just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. When police arrived on the scene, Rachel Benoit, 24 of Allentown was lying in the middle of the roadway. Police said Benoit had crossed North Harrison Street in the crosswalk, but did not activate the crosswalk signal by pushing the button. She proceeded into the roadway, where she was struck by a Hyundai Elantra driven by Daniel Fiorelli, 30, of East Windsor, who was turning left onto North Harrison Street from the Princeton Shopping Center. Benoit suffered a cut to the head as well as scrapes and bruises to both knees. Benoit was transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton to be treated for her injuries.

Two black men wearing ski masks entered the Rocky Hill Exxon gas station convenience store  just after 12:30 a.m. Feb. 11 and allegedly stole a pack of Newport cigarettes before leaving the store. Police said they then returned to the store and physically assaulted an employee. The employee was offered medical assistance but declined treatment. The investigation is ongoing. Police observed a 1995 Ford pickup being operated without working brakes lights on Feb. 10. The vehicle was stopped and a subsequent check of the driver, Jose Gonzalez of Trenton, revealed an active warrant out of Paterson for $150.00. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the police station for processing, where he posted bail and was released pending a court date.
