Friday, June 8

Simo Trio at the Arts Council of Princeton – Program features works by Russian composers Shostakovich and Rachmaninov, 8 p.m., tickets $15.

Open Mic Night at Infini-T Cafe – Check out one of downtown Princeton’s favorite new hot spots at 4 Hulfish Street, 9 p.m., free.

Big Band Dance with the Princeton High School Studio Band – Princeton High’s Jazz Ensemble and Studio Band perform an evening of music and dancing at the high school located at 151 Moore Street, 7-10 p.m., tickets $6.

Outdoor Dancing with the Central Jersey Dance Society – A California mix dance on Hinds Plaza, no partner needed, 7 p.m., free.

 

Saturday, June 9

Healthy Children, Healthy Planet – Community-wide celebration of school gardens will include gardening and nutrition demonstrations, sports clinics, local food, live music, and crafts in the beautiful school gardens at Riverside Elementary School. Money raised will support the Princeton Regional School’s garden education programs for children, K-5. The event is free, but the suggested donation is $5 per person, $20 per family, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

West Windsor and Montgomery Farmers’ Markets – Missed the Princeton Farmers’ Market this week? No problem. Stop by the West Windsor Community Farmers’ Market at the Vaughn Drive Parking Lot at Princeton Junction Train Station from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for produce, flowers, baked goods, and music. Blood pressure screening and massages also  available. Or head over to the Farmers’ Market sponsored by Montgomery Friends of Open Space at the Village Shopping Center, 1340 Route 206 South in Skillman for produce, poultry, eggs, beef, flowers, herbs, pies, coffee, honey, and more, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Princeton United Methodist Church Flea Market – Flea market, plant and bake sale in front of the church located at the corner of Nassau and Vandeventer Streets. Rain or shine., 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Dodge Ball Extravaganza – The Mercer Sports & Entertainment Commission is hosting a dodge ball tournament at the Mercer Skating Center, 334 South Post Road in West Windsor. Includes music, beer garden, food, more. Bring a lawn chair. Begins at 10 a.m.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day at the Princeton Public Library – A gathering for knitters of every age. Lessons coordinated by Pins and Needles of Princeton. Swap yarn, projects, and ideas, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free.

The 21st Annual Mill Hill Garden Tour – Explore the natural spaces of this historic urban neighborhood and see some of the best examples of small space gardening. Mill Hill’s nineteenth century streetscape is complemented by a wide variety of gardens from natural woodland and creek side gardens to planned formal spaces and relaxed settings for outdoor living and entertainment. The Old Mill Hill Society Kids Committee will have a lemonade stand in the newly restored Ike Williams Center in Clay Street Park, the Friends of Mill Hill Parks will be selling gourmet ice cream in the front garden of 136 Mercer, and the International Café will have a food truck providing sandwiches and other edibles. Drum circle at t 3p.m. in Clay Street Park. The tour begins at Artworks Studio 19 Everett Alley and South Stockton Street in Trenton. Admission includes access to the Historic 1719 William Trent House and grounds, which features a traditional colonial kitchen garden. The Garden Tour is organized by the Old Mill Hill Society and the residents of Mill Hill. Tours run from 12-5p.m., tickets $15 on day of tour.

Spring Concert, Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra – Concert Orchestra, symphony orchestra, and wind symphony in concert. Richardson Auditorium, Princeton University, 8 p.m., tickets $30.

Ivy Fest X at the  Ivy Inn – The tenth annual `Welcome to Summer’ bash features two bands, a taste of the Ivy’s upcoming menu, drinks and prizes. At 248 Nassau Street, outside rain or shine, 2-10 p.m.

`If I Ran the Circus’with the Stone Soup Circus – Community circus features New Jersey performers from ages 3 to 65 performing trapeze, aerial, unicycle, juggling, acrobatics, and clowning. at Pettoranello Gardens, 6-7:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, free.

Sarah Donner at Cafe 44 – Princeton’s newest cafe is now offering live music on Saturdays. Sarah Donner will kick the series off at the cozy Cafe at 44 Leigh Avenue. We recommend their french toast, day or night. 8-10 p.m., free.

Princeton Kids Marathon and Princeton 10K Race, Princeton HealthCare System – The final 1.2 miles of the kids’ marathon begins at 8 a.m., followed by activities and refreshments. Benefits the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro’s outpatient pediatric clinic. Register online at www.princetonkidsmarathon.org.  The 10K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Palmer Stadium and wind through the tree lined streets of Princeton.
