West Windsor Kidnapping Victim, 5, Found in South Carolina

West Windsor kidnapping victim David Lundy, 5, and his grandfather were spotted eating lunch at a McDonald’s in South Carolina just before noon today, police were notified and the grandfather was arrested.

Morris Lundy, 50, has been charged by the West Windsor Police Department with kidnapping, interference with child custody and endangering the welfare of a child. He has been taken into custody and is currently being held in the Florence County, South Carolina jail pending extradition.

David Lundy, who has sever asthma, was evaluated by medical personnel in South Carolina. Officials said he was found to be in good spirits and was not experiencing any issues related to his asthma. The boy will be spending the night in Florence, South Carolina under the care of the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Case workers from the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services are coordinating the return of the boy to New Jersey with victim assistance coordinators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Upon his return, the boy will be under the care of the Division of Youth and Family Services.

The discovery of the pair marks the end of a saga that began Friday when the grandfather took the boy from an apartment complex in West Windsor. Law enforcement officials pursued leads in New Jersey, New York and beyond over the last few days in their search for the boy. Their big break came today around 11:30 a.m. when law enforcement officials in Florence, South Carolina received information that Morris Lundy and his grandson were spotted at a McDonald’s restaurant on West Lucas Street in Florence. The Florence Sheriff’s Department dispatched an officer to the McDonald’s. The officer immediately located the pair.

The prosecutor also expressed his thanks to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for all of their assistance in distributing information through their extensive network.
