Princeton Police Blotter: Man With Knife Attempts to Rob Pedestrian on Witherspoon Street

A man with a knife approached a pedestrian on Witherspoon Street  and demanded money just after 10 p.m. on July 22, police said. The victim called police to report the incident, which happened near the intersection of Torrey Lane as the victim was headed north on Witherspoon Street. No property was taken. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, 5’2″ to 5’4″, with a stocky build. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue t-shirt with gray ribbing. Any other individuals who have been victimized in Princeton Borough or who may have witnessed the incident are asked to call the Princeton Borough Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 609-921-8108.

On July 23, a 48-year-old mover suffered a stroke while moving a piano in a stairwell at a Littlebrook Road home and was trapped under the piano. Paramedics from the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad lifted the piano off the victim and he was taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for treatment.

Two young men got into a fist fight while attending a house party on Gulick Road  on July 21. Conrad Maszack, 22, and Malcom Ward, 21, both of Lake Hiawatha, got into an argument that evolved into a physical fight, police said. Both of the men had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. Ward was charged with disorderly conduct and Maszack was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, police said.

The property manager at a business in the 700 block of State Road reported to police that sometime over the weekend of July 14-16, a glass door on the property was shattered. The exact cause of the damage could not be determined, and the cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

On July 16,  Jaya Ramachandran of California was attempting to park in the lot at 728 Bunn Drive when she lost control of her Toyota and struck a parked vehicle and then a tree next to the parking area, police said. The cause of the accident could not be determined, and Ramachandran was issued a summons for careless driving. Her Toyota  had to be towed from the scene.

While traveling on Mercer Street on July 16, Julia Tufano, 82, of Princeton, lost control of her Mercury Sable and it went off the road, crashing into the fence of a house on the 600 block of Mercer Street, police said.  No injuries were reported, and the Mercury had to be towed from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

During appearances in Princeton Township Municipal Court on July 17, Estee Nunes-Henriques, 29, of Princeton, and Hanna Rosenbaum, 56, of Princeton, were placed under arrest for outstanding court-related matters. Nunes-Henriques was found in contempt of court by Judge Bonnie Goldman and ordered arrested on a $500 court issued warrant. She was processed and later released after bail was posted. Rosenbaum was discovered to have $508.00 in warrants for her arrest and was later released.

A Ford driven by Austin Brengel, 23, of Flemington was stopped at the intersection of Washington Road about 11 a.m. on July 17 and the driver was preparing to make a right onto Faculty Road when the car was sideswiped by a Mazda that was traveling north on Washington Road, police said. The driver of the Mazda, Diane Lucas, 48, of Florham Park, was issued a summons for improper passage through an intersection. Her car was towed from the scene.

The property manager at a business on the 600 block of Ewing Street called police on July 18  to report that sometime between 5 p.m. the night before and that morning, someone pried open a door to a storage closet and took $300 worth of toothbrushes. The incident is under investigation.
