Frontier Airlines to Offer Non-Stop Flights from Trenton-Mercer Airport to Orlando

Frontier Airlines today announced new nonstop service between Trenton and Orlando, Fla. The Denver-based airline will offer nonstop flights from the Trenton-Mercer Airport twice a week on Monday and Fridays beginning on Nov. 16.

To celebrate the new service, Frontier is offering fares as low as $69 each way, available for purchase through Aug. 11 at FrontierAirlines.com. We did a test booking, and including taxes, the round trip flight for this special deal costs just $137.59.

“The addition of Trenton-Mercer Airport is exciting for Frontier as we introduce our high value, low fare service to the southern New Jersey region,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president for Frontier’s commercial division. “Frontier customers will enjoy the unmatched convenience of the Trenton-Mercer Airport, versus the two congested, high fare hubs in the region, as they travel nonstop to the major leisure attractions of Orlando and the central Florida area.”

“This is an exciting development for our region,” said Brian M. Hughes, Mercer County Executive. “More than any other destination, residents of Mercer County have made it clear to me that Orlando tops their list, and I am so pleased that we are able to deliver. Trenton-Mercer Airport is in a great location, just off of I-95, that’s easily accessible to anyone traveling for business or pleasure. We welcome Frontier Airlines to the Trenton-Mercer Family, and we are confident they will have the same success here that they’ve celebrated nationwide.”

Streamline Airlines currently offers weekday service from Trenton-Mercer to Boston. Streamline, which is based in Boston, began serving the Trenton-Mercer Airport in 2011, and primarily caters to business travelers, while Frontier Airlines has its sights set on the tourism traveler.

Frontier serves about 80 U.S. cities, plus Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. The airline will be operating 138-seat Airbus 319 aircrafts with television service, stretch seating and other flight options on the Trenton-Mercer to Orlando flights.

Officials said Frontier will help Trenton-Mercer achieve its “one-stop” goal for the airport, meaning passengers could get from TTN  to numerous U.S. and international destinations with one plane change. Hughes said Mercer County has made significant investments to Trenton-Mercer Airport in the past several years.

“We continue to make upgrades and improvements at Trenton-Mercer that keep our airport competitive with other regional airports and attractive to potential carriers, and we believe Trenton-Mercer is vital to the continued economic growth in Mercer County and the surrounding region,” he said.
