Birdhouse Auction to Benefit Princeton Affordable Housing Group

Nassau Hall and the home of Albert Einstein are just a few of the area buildings that have been rendered in miniature in the form of one-of-a-kind birdhouses to raise money for a local good cause.

Area architects and artists have donated their talents to “There’s No Place Like Home”, a fall fundraiser for Princeton’s largest provider of affordable housing, Princeton Community Housing.

Princeton Community Housing will celebrate its 45th anniversary at the fundraiser on Sept. 30. The event, which will run from 3 to 6 p.m. at Conant Hall on the ETS campus,  includes a reception and an auction of more than 100 unique birdhouses.

Architects including Michael Graves, J. Robert Hillier, Anne Sax, Robert Bennett, Francis Treves, and Claudia Gaviria have designed creations for the auction.  Birdhouses were also designed by many local artists including Helen Schwartz, Caryn Newman, Trudy Glucksberg, Leslie Bertsch-Neumeyer, Ben Colbert, Ken McIndoe, Al Aronson, Connie Bracci-McIndoe, and Hannah Fink.

A special replica of Albert Einstein’s house on Mercer Street was made by Anthony Bordieri and his facilities team at the Institute for Advanced Study.

Along with both a silent auction and a live auction of the birdhouses, there will be activities for children. Tickets are $25 per person, with children under 12 admitted free. The event will take place rain or shine. Admission is $25 in advance or at the door. Call  (609) 924-3822 ext. 115 or email Sandra@princetoncommunityhousing.org to purchase a ticket in advance.

Founded in 1967, Princeton Community Housing owns and continues to manage more than 460 affordable rental units in four communities known as Elm Court, Harriet Bryan House, Princeton Community Village and Griggs Farm, as well as a number of homes throughout the greater Princeton community.
