Princeton Area Closings and Cancellations for Thursday, Nov. 1

Gov. Christie announced Wednesday night that state offices will reopen Thursday. Princeton Borough and Princeton Township offices will be open with limited services. The Princeton University campus will reopen (many students are gone because this week is fall break). Many other government agencies, community organizations, public schools, private schools, colleges and universities remain closed for Thursday though. If you have a closing to add to the following list, please let us know.

Princeton Theological Seminary classes canceled until next week, offices closed. Prayer service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Mercer County Community College
The College of New Jersey is closed for the rest of the week.
Rider University (including Westminster Choir College) closed for the rest of the week.
Rutgers University New Brunswick, Newark classes canceled for the rest of the week. Employees must report to work though.

Marketfair will have a partial opening at 10 AM tomorrow (Thursday) with limited operations
Princeton Shopping Center will have at least a partial opening. Even without power, some stores are still open.

Events

Princeton Chamber luncheon canceled.

The McCarter Lab Fall Festival 2012 has been postponed.

Dining by Design will be postponed, date to be determined.

Judging for the Princeton logo contest will be rescheduled.

The Institute for Advanced Study has had to postpone the following Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 public events:

– Songs of the Fertile Crescent, originally scheduled for Nov. 1, has been postponed due to disrupted travel of participants and a power outage on the IAS campus. Please check www.ias.edu or www.facebook.com/InstituteforAdvancedStudy for updates.

– Public Lecture: “The Works of the Old Men in Arabia: Exploring and Mapping a Prehistoric Landscape from the Air and from Space,” by David Kennedy, originally scheduled for Nov. 2 at 4:15 p.m., has been postponed due to a power outage on the IAS campus.   1. Corner House Remains Closedosed although phone contact with agency is available on Friday, November 2…this is on a very limited basis from 9AM to 5 PM.
