Princeton Borough Police Arrest Suspect in Armed Robberies

Princeton Borough Police have arrested a Princeton man in connection with three armed robberies in the Witherspoon Street neighborhood.

Franco Lopez-Solis, 18, of Leigh Avenue was arrested at about 11 p.m. last night. After voluntarily going to Borough police headquarters, he was charged on several counts for two armed robberies on Sunday and one robbery on October 24.

Lopez-Solis has been charged with three counts of armed robbery (a first degree crime), three counts of aggravated assault (a second degree crime), and six counts of weapons possession offenses.  Bail has been set at $300,000. Lopez-Solis is being lodged in the Mercer County Detention Center.

On Oct. 24, at about 8:30 p.m., Lopez-Solis allegedly brandished a knife on John Street just after 8:30 and demanded that a pedestrian give him all his money and his phone.

Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Lopez and three accomplices allegedly approached a male and female victim.  The group allegedly surrounded the victims while one brandished a knife demanding money.  The male victim struggled with the knife wielding suspect as police arrived on scene and arrested two of the individuals.

Later on the evening of Oct. 28,   Lopez allegedly approached a lone male victim on Witherspoon Street near Lytle street, brandished a knife and demanded cash.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

  1. How sad that this type of violence has crept into our quaint town. My heart goes out to this creeps’ victims. May he stay off the streets for a long time.

  2. Thankfully no one was actually killed or seriously injured. And this guy, although legally an adult, is still young. So glad they got him, and hope a person so young could still be rehabilitated one day.

    1. rehabilitated after they give his name to everyone??? What is the point of this? It only harms his future and that of his family but does not protect the community.
