Princeton Police Blotter: Volvo Stolen, Ditched on Bunn Drive

A green Volvo was stolen from a residence on the 200 block of Elm Road in the early morning hours of Nov. 22, police said. Police discovered the Volvo in the woods off of Bunn Drive in Princeton Township just before 3 a.m. The car was unoccupied. A police investigation found that the car had been stolen from the driveway of the home on Elm Road earlier. The investigation is ongoing.

A resident accidentally drove her car through a wall of her house on the afternoon of Nov. 24. Alexandra Akselrad, 77, complained of hand pain after the crash into her Lawrenceville Road home, but she refused treatment at the scene. Building inspectors from the Township were notified of the incident, and the crash remains under investigation.

The driver of a Jeep Cherokee struck the rear of a Nissan at the intersection of State Road and Cherry Hill Road on the evening of Nov. 23. The cars were traveling southbound on State Road. Both were stopped at the red light at Cherry Hill Road. When the light turned green, Samuel Sidique, 29, of Hamilton hit the Nissan driven by Paul Nolan, 55, of Belle Mead, police said. No injuries occurred and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, but as a result of the investigation it was discovered that Sidique had outstanding warrants in the amount of $1,145 out of Scotch Plains. Sidique was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released. He was also issued summonsed for careless driving and driving while suspended.

A Jeep Cherokee accidentally struck a Lexus GS just after noon on Nov. 23 as the two cars were traveling north on State Road/Route 206. Ryan Delaney, 35, of Ewing was driving the Lexus when debris fell off of a southbound vehicle and landed in the northbound lane directly in front of his car. Delaney had to brake abruptly to avoid the debris, and was then hit from behind by the Lexus, which was driven by James Bishop, 32, of Williamstown. No summonses were issued after a police investigation, and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

A woman reported that she was assaulted during an argument about the use of a dryer Nov. 22 while doing laundry at the Redding Circle apartments. The woman said the argument took place after she was confronted about using too many dryers at one time. She said she was then struck in the face and shoulder. No injuries were reported. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

A burglar entered a home on the first block of Braeburn Drive some time between Nov. 18 and 21. A house sitter reported on Nov. 21 that the home had been entered by an unknown person. Patrols discovered forced entry to the rear of the house. At the time of the report it was not known what had been taken from the home. The investigation is ongoing.

On Nov. 21 a resident of the 100 block of Quaker Road reported to police that some time between about 7:30 and 8 p.m., her car door was left unlocked after returning from the store. When she returned to the car she discovered that her purse and cell phone had been taken from the car.

A Subaru Forester struck a Hyundai Elantra that was traveling north on the 700 Block of Bunn Drive on the afternoon of Nov. 21. Sheila Johnson, 70, of Trenton was stopped to make a left turn when she was hit by Marla Delikoura, 17, of Princeton, police said. Both cars were able to be driven from the scene. Delikoura was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.

A Lincoln Town Car was rear ended by a a Dodge Durango near the intersection of Washington Road and Faculty Road on Nov. 20. Wanzhen Yang, 40, of Lawrenceville was traveling north on Washington Road in the Lincoln Town Car when Christine Toth, 40, of Hopewell allegedly hit the Town Car in her Durango. Police said the cars were nearing a construction zone and the Lincoln came to a stop when it was hit by the Durango. Both vehicles were driven away. Toth was issued a summons for careless driving.

A man crashed his Honda into a utility pole on the 100 block of Leabrook Lane in Nov. 19. Karl Morrison, 76, of Princeton hit a pole after his car drove off the road surface for an unknown reason, police said. He was issued a summons for careless driving.

A Mini Cooper rear ended a Honda Odyssey while traveling northbound on Alexander Street on Nov. 19. Xudong Jiang, 45, of Princeton was approaching the traffic light at the intersection of Alexander and Faculty Road in the right turn lane when the Mini Cooper, driven by Asa Estvall, 34, of Bayard Lane, struck the Honda. Two juvenile passengers in the Honda complained of head pain, but their parent/guardians refused treatment at the scene. Both vehicles were driven away, and Estvall was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.
