Princeton Police Merger Almost Complete: Borough Dispatch Center Moved Today

With a month to go before consolidation officially takes place, the police departments for the two Princetons have taken giant steps toward consolidating, and the police station at the municipal complex located at the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Valley Road is now the command center for both departments.

Last week the administration for the Princeton Borough Police Department move to the municipal complex, and this week both the detective bureau and the dispatch center for the Borough moved to the complex.

This morning all Borough police communications operations were moved to 1 Valley Road, including all police dispatch, seven-digit and 911 communications. With the move to 1 Valley Road., the police window at Borough Hall will no longer be manned by police or communications personnel.  Anyone who needs to report an incident in person to the Princeton Borough Police should do so at the Princeton Township Police Department  at 1 Valley Road. Anyone wishing to reach the Princeton Borough Police Department by telephone can still do so by calling (609) 924-4141.

Beginning next Wednesday, December 5, at 6:30 a.m., joint police operations will begin as the patrol bureau of the Borough Police Department moves to 1 Valley Road as well. Starting Wednesday, patrol units will consist of combined Township and Borough patrol officers.

Police operations for the current Township and Borough departments will continue separately at the Valley Road location until January 1, at which time all operations will combine.
