Friday, Dec. 14

Princeton High School Jazz Band Dance – Whether you love to sit and listen or get up and dance, come enjoy award winning jazz bands at the Princeton High School Cafe. Nassau Bands 1 & 2 open at 7:00, followed by PHS Jazz Ensemble and PHS Studio Band. 7-10 p.m., 151 Moore St., ticked $6, students and seniors $4.

Mystic Rhythms – Join Karttikeya as he weaves musical creations and improvisations on the rare and mystical Halo and Hang instruments as well as keyboard, drums and other tuned percussion. Princeton Center for Yoga and Health, 88 Orchard Rd. in Montgomery, 7:30-9 p.m., tickets $10.

Sound Bites Featuring the David Grossman Trio and Two Five One – Join guitarist David Grossman and his trio. Two Five One, a Montgomery High School student quintet, will open the show. Sound Bites concerts feature local/regional musicians and offer refreshments and art, while providing the audience with an up close and personal experience with the musicians. Arts Council of Princeton, 7:30 p.m., admission $10/$5 for Arts Council members.

A Christmas Carol, McCarter Theatre – Holiday classic by Charles Dickens in the Matthews Theatre,  tickets $20 and up, 7:30 p.m. Friday,  2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 1 and 5:30 p.m.

Westminster Community Chorus and Chamber Choir Christmas Music – Christmas Music from the African-American and Latino traditions features African American spirituals, and other Christmas songs from the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Slow Food Central Jersey Eat Local Wonter Farmers Market – Locally proceeds meat, bread, mushrooms, cheeses, wine, baked goods, sweets, pies and more at Cherry Grove Farm on Route 206 in Lawrenceville, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., $2 suggested donation to benefit Slow Food Central New Jersey.

Cooking Demo with Agricola Chef Josh Thomsen – Thomsen, the chef of the new eatery that will be located at the former Lahiere’s site in downtown Princeton, will visit the Williams-Sonoma at Princeton Market Fair. He’ll be doing a demo of a Sous Vide Truffle Chicken Breast with Pickled Beets and Celery Root Remoulade, 12-3 p.m., free.

Princeton Artists Alliance Art Exhibit to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims – Holiday exhibition and sale of works by the Princeton Artists Alliance. On view to December 22. Gallery tour with artist Charles McVicker at 1 p.m.  Prallsville Mills, 33 Risler Street, Stockton, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. No admission fee. Sale of art goes to hurricane relief.

Holiday Pops with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra – Seasonal music, Princeton High School Choir joins the orchestra for several works. Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University, 4 p.m., tickets $38.

Voices of Angels, the American Boychoir – Traditional holiday favorites sung by the American Boychoir at the Princeton University Chapel, 7:30 p.m., tickets $20 and up.

Sunday, Dec. 16

Benefit Community Concert with the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra – Benefit for Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. Cash donationsm non-perishable food items, clothing, winter gear, toiletries, and cosmetics accepted. Montgomery High School, 3 p.m.

Jersey Transit Holiday Concert – The a cappella ensemble performs arrangements of holiday songs augmented by claps, grunts and Aboriginal clicking noises in this concert that includes a sing-along. Princeton Public Library Community Room, 3 p.m., free.

Princeton Center for Yoga & Health Hurricane Sandy Relief Benefit Concert and Lunch – An afternoon filled with music by David Brahinsky and friend , food from Sahara Middle East Restaurant, and good company, all benefiting the relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. All proceeds will go to One Simple Wish. At Princeton Center for Yoga & Health, 88 Orchard Road in Skillman, 1:30 to 4 p.m., $15 admission.
