Princeton Police Blotter: Small Basement Fire, Assault, Pot Arrest

The Princeton Fire Department put out a small basement fire Sunday night at the corner of Princeton-Kingston Road and Shadybrook Lane. A resident at 874 Princeton-Kingston Road called the police just after 9 p.m. to report that smoke from her chimney was filling up the house. The fire department was dispatched and firefighters located a small fire in the basement underneath the fireplace. There was an active fire in the ember box. The fire was put out and the house did not suffer any major damage. Rocky Hill Station 52 and Plainsboro Rescue 44 helped out at the scene.

Just after 9 a.m. on December 29, a 67-year-old homeless man allegedly approached an 81-year-old female on the sidewalk of Nassau Street and struck her in the face with his fist, causing a laceration to her lip.  After police arrested the man, they discovered he also had stolen a book from a local book store. Police said the attack against the woman was unprovoked.  The victim and a witness were not acquainted, and the incident appears to be random in nature.  The victim was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton. The accused, Autumn Sunrise Fosky, was charged with simple assault and receiving stolen property, and was later released.

When a policeman stopped a vehicle in the afternoon on December 30 because the car was unregistered, the officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle and called for a back-up officer to continue the investigation. The driver, Tomas Roldan, 24, of Princeton, then fled the scene by speeding away, police said. He drove a short distance and was forced to stop after driving into a cul-de-sac.  Police said they found marijuana and a marijuana pipe that had been thrown from the vehicle while Roldan was fleeing the police. Roldan and the three 23-year-old Princeton residents who were occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
