Two juniors at Princeton High School have organized a benefit dessert hour and concert to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the high school’s performing arts center.

Students Andrew Goldstein and Mollie Chen have been busy planning for the event, which will feature several student music groups, including all of the school a cappella groups, a quartet and a break dancing group.

“I’d been wanting to do something to raise money, but not just the traditional quick fundraiser where you sell baked goods and you’re done,” Goldstein said. “I decided I wanted to do something where I could raise some serious money for hurricane relief. I asked if anyone wanted to help, and Mollie said `Let’s do it’.”

The pair came up with the idea for a variety show and dessert mixer, and coordinated with the dean of students to make the necessary arrangements and reserve the space. Student musicians were eager to help out. After mid-terms last week, Goldstein and Chen were planning on finalizing the decorations and menu for the event.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door. Tickets for students are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.  Tickets for adults are $7 in advance and $10 at the door, but you can contribute more. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, which is run by Gov. Chris Christie’s wife.
