Princeton Council incumbents Jenny Crumiller and Patrick Simon are the only Democrats seeking the endorsement of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization for the two seats up for grabs in the November election.

Crumiller and Simon were both elected to the new government of the consolidated Princeton last November. The six council members drew numbers out of a hat on Jan. 1 to determine how long their terms would be, because Council terms must be staggered. Crumiller and Simon drew the one-year terms.

Candidates had until Sunday night to submit their names for consideration for the endorsement. A candidate can still run in the Democratic primary without the endorsement. The deadline for candidates to file petitions to run in the Democratic and Republican primaries in New Jersey is April 1. Unaffiliated candidates who want to run for office must file their petitions by the primary election on June 4.

The endorsement meeting for the Princeton Community Democratic Organization will be held Sunday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Suzanne Patterson Center behind the former Borough municipal building.

State Senator Barbara Buono is slated to attend the meeting. Buono is running for governor in the Democratic primary. The club endorsed Buono last month.

Assembly candidate Marie Corfield will also attend the meeting. Corfield was defeated by Republican Donna Simon in the 16th District race last November.
