Princeton University to Install Temporary Traffic Light at Intersection of College Road and University Place

under-construction_iconWork is slated to begin today on the installation of a temporary traffic light at the intersection of College Road and University Place. The traffic light will  be used over the next year when construction detours are in effect for Princeton University’s Arts and Transit Project.

The installation and testing of the temporary traffic signal will take about two weeks. School officials said that during the installation process, there may be intermittent traffic delays at this intersection, primarily during off-peak hours due to the need to construct the signal in and over the roadway. Police will be at the site during work hours to maintain an orderly traffic pattern, officials said.

The temporary traffic signal will be in place from May until about February 2014. School officials said the signal will only be activated when detours are in effect for construction on Alexander Street between University Place and College Road on and University Place.

Demolition work will also continue along Alexander Street this week. Traffic on Alexander Street near the intersection of University Place will be alternated intermittently during off-peak hours.
