Princeton Police Blotter: Bike Theft, Shoplifting, and More

princeton policeOn the morning of Aug. 10, a  homeowner on the 100 block of Prospect Ave. called police to report that between July 14 and the time of the call, someone attempted to enter their home. A police investigation revealed that someone had attempted to enter the home through a rear door. No entry was gained and no other damage was noted.

A 19-year-old Princeton resident allegedly was selling marijuana inside the Community Park Pool Complex on the evening of Aug. 10 and a staff member reported it to the police after being alerted to the issue by two people at the pool. Eric Shorter was found in possession of marijuana under 50 grams and other drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and intent to distribute. He was unable to post bail of $10,000 and was transported to the Mercer County Corrections Center in Hopewell.

A Monmouth Junction resident was stopped by police on Princeton-Kingston Road near River Road just after 2 a.m. Aug. 8 and police determined that he had consumed alcoholic beverages before driving. Ramon Pinto-Brickhouse was charged with driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain a single lane and driving while suspended.

A store manager at Urban Outfitters on Nassau Street reported that a female shoplifted $572 worth of merchandise on Aug. 6 by concealing it on her person and leaving the store. The suspect was described as a Hispanic female  in her 40’s, 150 lbs, 5’2″ with blonde hair. She was wearing a black and white blouse with dark pants and carrying a black and white leather purse.

A resident of Linden Lane reported that her blue Trek FX woman’s bicycle, valued at $600, was stolen from her front porch sometime between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Aug. 5. The bike was locked to itself with a cable lock, which ran through the frame and front wheel.

Just after 11 a.m. on Aug. 4, police were dispatched to a house on the 600 block of  Princeton-Kingston Road on a report of a roof contractor falling from a roof and bleeding profusely.  Arriving officers observed Waldemar Hanusiewicz, 29, of Old Bridge lying on the ground face up, semi-conscious, and bleeding from the left side of his head and ear.  He appeared to be having a seizure and had difficulty breathing.  Officers administered oxygen until the arrival The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad and emergency medical technicians, who stabilized Hanusiewicz and transported him to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Co-workers at the scene reported that Hanusiewicz lost his footing while spraying wasp repellent and fell backwards from a 10-foot high roof onto a stone patio below.

During a pedestrian stop just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 2  behind Varsity Liquors at 234 Nassau Street, Juan Cardona, 21, of Princeton was arrested for allegedly serving alcoholic beverages to minors after he was observed purchasing beer and malt liquor for Nolan Cretney, 18. Cretney was charged with being a minor in possession of alcoholic beverages.

A Princeton resident was arrested Aug. 4. after a shoplifting investigation at CVS Pharmacy, Ernst Delma, 30, was arrested for shoplifting after store surveillance cameras captured him stealing two packs of C batteries valued at $13.98.

A Rocky Hill resident was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after he cut off a marked patrol car while making a left turn from Wiggins Street onto Jefferson Rd.  After administering field sobriety tests, officers at the scene determined that Gary Bliss, 37, was intoxicated and placed him under arrest for DWI. He was processed and later released to a friend.  Bliss was issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving, and failure to yield the right of way at an intersections.

On Aug. 1 the manager of Urban Outfitters on Nassau Street reported that unknown suspects stole $7,051 worth of clothing and left through the front door without paying for the items.  There was no description of the suspect(s).
