Sound Bites featuring Tom Neilson – 
Tom Neilson provides a voice for all those who believe in the power of folk music to effect change. Tom will talk about his inspiration for songs, his process, and craft throughout the performance to demonstrate the grassroots of folk music. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at the Arts Council of Princeton. Concert begins at 8. Special offer: Bring your receipt from any Terra Momo restaurant (Mediterra, Teresa Caffe or Eno Terra) from that evening and receive one free admission to the show per dinner entree. Princeton Traffic and Transit Task Force Public Forum – Preliminary report from Alexander Street/University Place Traffic and Transit Task force regarding options for future public transit in Princeton (bus rapid transit, streetcars, lightrail) with public discussion and input. “We plan to discuss options for advancing mass transit to Nassau Street from the Dinky rail line and we will discuss traffic patterns and strategies for better managing traffic congestion along Alexander and University Place.  We are only partway through our analysis and we want to hear reactions and ideas from the public, including University and town residents and employees,” said Task Force Chairman Kevin Wilkes.  9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Carl Fields Center, 58 Prospect Avenue on the Princeton University campus.

Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market 3.0 – Visit the historic Roebling Machine Shop at 675 South Clinton Avenue in Trenton to scoop up cool finds like handmade and vintage clothing, handmade jewelry, collectibles, silkscreened art, and more. Food, art demos, and DJ. More than 200 tables. Food trucks include the Sunflower Truck Stop, Just Jackie’s Food Truck, Rival Bros Coffee, The Tot Cart and Confections of a Rockstar bakery. Along with crafts, food and merchandise there will also be a food drive, so bring canned goods to donate. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., $4 admission.

Art All Day – Trenton’s second annual Art All Day open studio and creative space tour returns this year with more than  70 participating artists exhibiting at 28 sites around Trenton. The day will feature special public art and history tours, live painting and art making at multiple sites, poetry readings, gallery walks, live theater and more. Pick up a free map of all the events at Artworks, which is located at 19 Everett Alley across from the DMV. Free parking. Trolleys will be running from Artworks taking visitors to the creative spaces around the city. Art All Day runs from noon to 5 p.m., with a reception at Artworks from 5 to 8 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. Princeton historian Cliford Zink will give a free tour discussing the Roebling legacy. The tour begins at the Roebling Machine Shop Art All Day Table at the entrance. The building is located at 675 Clinton Avenue and plenty of free parking is available.

Trenton Half Marathon -More than 4,000 runners will take part in the second annual Trenton Half Marathon and 10K. Half begins at 8 a.m, 10K begins at 8:30. Kids’ run begins at 11. Race finishes at Arm & Hammer Park. For more info. about the event and where to park, visit the event website.

Shred N’ Bake – The Junior League of Greater Princeton hosts the shredfest where you can shred your documents securely, no limit. Suggested donation $5 a box. Donors will be entered to win a $100 Despana git certificate. Runs from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at the corner of Henry and Witherspoon Streets, next door to 291 Witherspoon St.

World Chess Champion Review – Join Jon Edwards, Jonathan Crumiller, Mike Colucci and other local chess masters on three consecutive Saturday nights for a review of the highlights of the games taking place in Chennai, India. The 12-game match pits current World Chess Champion Viswanathan (Vishy) Anand of India against Norwegian chess superstar Magnus Carlsen. Only a basic knowledge of chess is needed to enjoy the games and discussion. Rhythm Dance and Drum Circle – Drum, slap, tap, dance, shake it up. Experience the healing vibrations created by group drumming. Drumming as a group can create states of euphoria, promote play, release anger, and promote feelings of community, unity and well-being. Princeton Reads Film: “Running From Crazy” – “Running from Crazy” is a documentary film by two-time Academy Award-winning director Barbara Kopple about the family of author Ernest Hemingway. It was shown at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and is currently on the festival circuit. Through the eyes of Mariel Hemingway, it chronicles the story of three of the author’s grandchildren, Mariel, Margaux and Muffet Hemingway, daughters of Jack Hemingway, and their struggles with the family history of substance abuse, mental illness and suicide. The film, focusing on suicide and mental health issues, will run on the Oprah Winfrey Network later this year. The film’s focus on mental health is in keeping with one of the themes of “The Silver Linings Playbook,” the 2013 Princeton Reads book. Seven members of the Hemingway family, including the author, have committed suicide. David Cassidy, one of the film’s producers, will participate in a Q&A following the screening. 2 p.m., Princeton Public Library Community Room, free.
