Mercer County Woman Seriously Injured in Morning Crash in Kingston

RidgerdaccidentA Mercer County woman was seriously injured in a car accident during rush hour this morning on Ridge Road in Kingston.

South Brunswick Police are investigating the motor vehicle crash that was reported at 8:51am on Ridge Road near Sassman Lane. The accident forced the closure of Ridge Road between Route 1 and Route 27 for an hour.

A 20-year old Mercer County woman was driving a 2003 Lexus headed west on Ridge Road to her work in Princeton. The woman lost control on a bend on Ridge Road near Sassman Lane and went off onto the right shoulder. The woman spun back across the road into oncoming traffic headed east on Ridge Road. The Lexus was then broadsided by a 2013 Nissan that was being driven by a 44-year-old Princeton woman.

The 20 year old Mercer County woman was seriously injured and was taken by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The 44-year-old Princeton woman was taken by South Brunswick EMS to theUniversity Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, where she was treated and released.

The crash is under investigation by South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau Officer Michael Leung. Police are checking to see if speed was a factor in the crash.

  1. Does anyone else find it weird that this stretch of Ridge Road is not on the way from _anywhere_ in Mercer County to Princeton? Was this woman lost to begin with? Perhaps that explains things.

      1. Look at a map. Look where the Mercer County boundaries lie. Look at where Princeton and Ridge Rd are, and tell me how this commute makes sense.

        1. Get that, but the person could have been dropping off a loved one to work or school or something. A lot of possibilities.
