NJ Transit Cautions Commuters to `Travel Smart’ During Super Bowl Week

stadium-cp 3Major events are scheduled all week in both Newark and Manhattan for Super Bowl Week Jan. 27 to Feb. 3. NJ Transit is cautioning regular passengers to plan ahead and expect delays because of the large volume of people who will be using mass transit.

NJ Transit is telling customers to consider avoiding non-essential business travel during Super Bowl Week and to travel during non-peak hours whenever possible. Trains and buses will be busiest during peak morning and evening commute hours and immediately preceding and following area events.

Mass transit riders will encounter additional delays Monday, Feb. 3, the day after the Super Bowl game – particularly during peak morning hours. Canceled trains along the Northeast Corridor are expected as transit employees work to return trains and buses to home stations and normalize operations systemwide.

NJ Transit is offering a $50 unlimited travel Super Pass for Super Bowl week. The pass can be purchased at ticket vending machines, ticket windows and the MyTix mobile ticketing app from Jan. 20 through Feb. 2. The pass is valid for unlimited travel from Monday, Jan. 27 through Monday, Feb. 3, on all NJ Transit rail, bus, light rail and Access Link services throughout New Jersey, including travel to and from Newark Liberty International Airport and New York City.
