Winter Storm Watch Issued for Mercer County for Monday, Feb. 3

Feb3A winter storm warning has been issued for Mercer County for 5 a.m. through 5 p.m. Monday.

Between four and six inches of snow is expected for the Mercer County area, along with freezing rain or sleet during the transition from rain to snow Monday morning.

Rain and sleet are expected before dawn, and then snow will begin between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly. The snow may fall heavily some time between mid morning and early Monday afternoon.

The timing of this storm has the potential to cause significant disruptions to the morning commute. Police are suggesting that commuters allow for additional travel time to get to their destinations safely.

The temperature will be in the low 30s, with north winds between five and 15 miles per hour. Visibility will be one quarter to one half of a mile at times.

Temperatures will drop into the teens and lower 20s Monday night, with any slouch and water freezing over on the pavement.
