Flood Watch Issued for Mercer County Region for Friday

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a flood watch for Mercer, Hunterdon, Middlesex and Burlington counties and Southeast Pennsylvania from Friday morning through Friday afternoon.

The combination Of warm temperatures, rain And wind will result in an increased snow melt and runoff on Friday. This Runoff may cause numerous streams and rivers in the watch area to approach or exceed flood stage, according to the National Weather Service. River ice could break up and move with increased stream flow, adding to the flood threat if ice jams form.

Urban flooding a flooding as a result of poor drainage are also expected, especially in areas where snow and ice are clogging storm drains. Police in several municipalities have asked residents to clear storm drains in front of their properties.

Driving may become difficult on Friday due to water ponding on roadways.
