The town of Princeton has hired a program manager from the Burlington County Health Department to become the permanent health officer for the municipality.

Jeffrey Grosser, who received a bachelor’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in health science from John Hopkins University, was introduced at the Board of Health meeting this week.

“Princeton is such an amazing place,” Grosser said. “I passed the health officer exam one and a half years ago, and  since then I’ve been trying to find the right place to fit in. I’m beyond excited to become the health officer for Princeton.”

Grosser has a background in environmental health and has also served as a Hazmat responder. He has worked in several positions in the Burlington county Health Department, and currently serves as a program manager for disease prevention and control with the department.

He was also an adjunct professor at the Richard Stockton College, and an environmental health officer for the United States Navy Reserve.

Grosser is scheduled to begin on April 7.

Health commission members thanked Bob Hary for his service as the interim health officer. Hary started to interim post just before the start of the meningitis outbreak.

“He went more than the extra mile,” Elizabeth Bates said. “He went the extra turnpike for us.”
