Thank You Letters from Democratic Princeton Council Candidates

Councilwoman Jo Butler Thanks Supporters

To the Editor:

I write to thank the many Princeton voters who braved the weather to participate in the advisory vote of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization (PCDO). In a challenging two-against-one contest, I was pleased to receive significant support from the PCDO and from Princeton’s Democratic Municipal Committee.  The League of Women Voters moderated the PCDO debate with customary skill and grace. Residents will have another opportunity to hear from Princeton Council candidates when the League hosts its candidate forum on April 30. I encourage everyone to attend.

Thanks to your support, my name will be in the Democratic column as incumbent for re-election in the June 3 primary. I am heartened to have the support of voters who want open and transparent government. I am proud of my record as the candidate who challenges business-as-usual practices, who will not shield budget details from public scrutiny, who seeks to clarify conflict-of-interest rules, and who has been a reliable fiscal watchdog. Our consolidated government can balance its budget without diluting democracy.

Our first contested post-consolidation primary will offer a meaningful choice. I look forward to your help to ensure that voters choose not on the basis of innuendo or vague assurances of Council harmony but on facts and issues.  For more information about my positions and my campaign, please visit my website at www.jobutler.com or email me at jo.butler@verizon.net Again, many thanks, and I ask for your continued support in the primary on June 3.

Sue Nemeth and Councilman Bernie Miller Thank Supporters

Dear Editor:

We’re writing to express our gratitude to the hundreds of Princeton Democrats who ventured out on a rainy Sunday evening to participate in the PCDO local candidate endorsement process. We appreciated the assistance of the League of Women Voters in moderating the meeting and the many volunteers who helped manage the crowd. It is a privilege to compete for the Democratic nomination in a community that takes democracy to heart!

We also wish to thank the members of the Princeton Municipal Democratic Committee for meeting with each candidate the following evening to consider ballot placement and use of the Party slogan. We are honored to have received their recommendation.

As we head toward the June 3rd Primary Election, we look forward to sharing our ideas for leading Princeton forward and hearing your thoughts. The League of Women Voters has graciously offered to host a televised candidate forum on April 30th, so all of Princeton has an opportunity to learn more about our values and vision.

Local campaigns are a great way to get more involved in the civic life of our community. If you are interested in volunteering on our campaign, please contact us at b.p.miller@verizon.net or gsnemeth@gmail.com.

Sincerely yours,

Bernie Miller
