Teacher and scientist Andrew Zwicker will address the Princeton College Democrats and the American Whig-Cliosophic Society of Princeton on Wednesday, April 30, at Princeton University. The event, which is free and open to the public, runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Whig Hall.

Zwicker, a research physicist at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and an award-winning lecturer and science communicator, is running for the Congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Rush Holt (D-12th Dist.), a former associate director of  the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab.

Alluding to Holt’s ubiquitous bumper stickers, “My Congressman is a rocket scientist, ” Zwicker noted that with Holt leaving Congress, “We have the opportunity to make sure that another scientist continues to be the voice for New Jersey — one that uses evidence and facts to tackle the challenges we face in our state and our country.”

At Princeton, Zwicker will outline his approach as a problem solver, using his passion for science to address topics as wide-ranging as unemployment, climate change, environmental protection, and health care.

Editor’s Note: An earlier edition of this story stated that the Daily Princetonian endorsed Zwicker. In fact a columnist at the newspaper endorsed Zwicker on March 30, not the newspaper. Planet Princeton regrets the error.
