Three years after leaving Trenton for Yardley, Pa., it looks like former Trenton Mayor Douglas Palmer and his family may be moving to Princeton.

Palmer and his wife, Christiana Foglio-Palmer, have begun showing up at Princeton events like the Arts Council’s Pinot to Picasso fundraiser last Friday. Some attendees said Palmer and his wife indicated that they are moving to town.

When reached by phone last night and asked if he is moving to Princeton, Palmer first said no, then said he has no announcement at this time. He then suggested the reporter check back with him in mid June.

Property records obtained from the Mercer County Clerk’s office show that Foglio-Palmer purchased a home on Mercer Street in downtown Princeton for $1.8 million. The deed for the property was transferred to Foglio and Associates in early April.

The 4,600-square-foot property on Mercer Street near Hibben Road has three bedrooms and four baths and is assessed at $1.48 million. The original asking price was $2.4 million. The taxes for 2013 were $31,196.

Palmer moved from his Buckingham Avenue home in Trenton in 2011 and bought a five-bedroom, 4,849-square-foot house on River Road in Yardley called Glencroft for $1 million. The Palmer family put the 2.2-acre property back on the market again on April 12 of this year. The asking price is $1.4 million.

Foglio-Palmer, who married Palmer in 2002, is a real estate developer specializing in multi-family housing and mixed use developments. Palmer, the first African-American elected mayor of Trenton, served as the head of the city for 20 years.
