Princeton Council Democratic Primary: A Race Too Close to Call

c_election2014The Princeton Council race will be decided after 11 provisional ballots are reviewed by the Mercer County Board of Elections Wednesday morning. A provisional ballot is a ballot provided to a voter whose eligibility to vote is not immediately established on election day.

The Princeton Council Democratic primary is too close to call. According to unofficial results, incumbent Bernie Miller is the top vote getter with 1,602 votes. But incumbent Jo Butler and challenger Sue Nemeth are neck and neck. Butler has three more votes than Nemeth, with 1,543 votes, to Nemeth’s 1,540 votes. The total includes absentee ballots.

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello said the Mercer County Board of Elections will review the voting records for each provisional voter and then count the ballots.

Editor’s Note: The candidates met with the Superintendent of Elections today. The results will be available later this week.
